Thines (Θ¹ines) = Dunes
According to Chadwick and Ventris, the city of Charadros of Nestor’s Kingdom was located where today the village of Finikounda is situated. It is widely assumed that Finikounda was named after the plant “Finikous” which in old times was used for the production of purple in this area.

Our campsite “THINES” is situated west of the village of Finikounda, right on the long and spotlessly clean beach of “Makrinámmos” which has been awarded the BLUE FLAG, just 50m from the shore. On our family run campsite a warm and friendly atmosphere awaits you. The site has 55 plots, a MiniMarket, a refreshment bar, washing machines, cooking facilities, 20 showers and 22 toilets and FREE WiFi connection. From Finikounda the holiday-maker can visit a large number of archaeological sites as well as places of natural beauty.
